There will be:
trophies for the top girl and top boy in each section.
prizes for all scoring more than 3 points out of 6.
a certificate for each competitor.
Although this is an open tournament, the top Barnet player in each age
group will be designated Barnet champion and will hold the appropriate
trophy for one year. (A Barnet player is one who lives or goes to school
in the London Borough of Barnet.) Players tied for a trophy will be
separated by Sum of Progressive scores.
Prize giving
Small prizes and certificates can be collected as soon as your last
game is finished, trophies and cash prizes as soon as possible after
the end of Round 6.
Swiss pairings will be used. This is not a knock-out tournament. All
competitors play in every round.
All sections will be played to ECF Rapidplay rules using chess clocks.
Each player will be allowed 30 minutes per game. Help will be given
to those not used to clocks. All sections will be graded for the ECF
Rapidplay list. The ECF intend to publish the Grading list on their
website. If you wish to have your Grading details (Grading Reference
Number, Name, Club(s), Grade(s), Grading Category) withheld from the
website version please contact the ECF.
The organisers reserve the right to merge sections in the event of a
section receiving insufficient entries.
Parents and friends are welcome to stay, but we regret that only stewards
and players will be allowed in the playing areas.
We do not provide any supervision of children between rounds so you
must stay to look after your own children or arrange for another adult

We are delighted that the Principal has allowed us use of the premises.
We hope you enjoy your day at this superb venue. Please leave everything
as you find it in the academy. You may eat and drink only in the designated
areas. We need everyone’s cooperation in treating the premises
properly so that we have the option of using this venue again.
Security Arrangements
The site rules require that the name of every person attending or visiting
and all possible car registration numbers must be provided to the school’s
security team IN ADVANCE. The simplest way to do this is to use the
online entry form.
STRICTLY NO ENTRIES ACCEPTED ON THE DAY. Please enter in advance to
avoid disappointment.
If you are unsure which adult is bringing your child please enter all
possible adults just in case. Don't forget to include any non-chess

will appreciate that these measures are for everyone's benefit. Please
try to arrive early (from 9am) as everyone will be checked in by security

Schools Chess Association Inter-Association Championships. They compete
with teams from all over the country, e.g. Sussex, Somerset and Yorkshire.
Last year our Under 9 team won the National Championships and our Under
11 team came third in the National Final. Players going to school in
Barnet and neighbouring boroughs are eligible for the 3 teams: Under
11, Under 9 and Girls Under 11. This tournament is the final part of
the selection process for these teams.
